Impressive to see digital influencers like Momin Saqib making big strides for eradication efforts in the online world - helping communities understand the benefits of polio vaccines. #VaccinesWork
Thank you Excellency Dr Ali Hajiadam Abubakar for your leadership and the update on government’s plans and commitment to stop the cVDPV2 polio outbreak and provide essential vaccines to all children in Somalia. WHO and all GPEI partners are committed to supporting these efforts.
Indeed, we have never been better equipped to stamp out many preventable diseases - including #polio . We are facing complex challenges in our WHO Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean Region, but with collective action, it is possible to #EndPolio .

Thanks to Ayesha Raza Farooq and Michael Galway for the insightful discussions we had recently about strategies in use to #MakePolioHistory in #Pakistan . It is not an easy feat but together, we can do it.
“Together, we possess the power to transform the landscape of global health. I urge each of you to stay steadfast in your commitment, to continue collaborating relentlessly & to remain unwavering in pursuit of a #polio -free world.” – Dr HananBalkhyحنان بلخي, Regional Director, WHO Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean
During World Health Worker Week, we salute the #polio health workforce across the WHO Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean Region. No river is too wide, and no mountain is too high in their endeavours to reach every child with vaccines and to search for any traces of poliovirus. #WorldHealthWorkerWeek
Congratulations to Iraq on being the first country in the WHO Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean Region to transition polio assets-knowledge, networks and infrastructure- to its national health systems, to strengthen routine immunization, disease surveillance and emergency response.
