The FBI released its annual crime data for the 2021 calendar year.
Based on statistics submitted by the ColumbiaPD, the city of Columbia saw a rise in violent crimes.
However, the Boone County Sheriff’s Office reported a decrease of violent crime. KOMU 8 News

According to the FBI Crime Data Explorer, violent crime is defined as homicide, aggravated assault, rape, and robbery.
ColumbiaPD reported a rise in rape and assault, but a decrease in homicide and robbery in 2021. KOMU 8 News
