Yesterday was a red letter, long saved for, new potting shed day! 😍 It didn't come with a toad but I discovered this beauty whilst moving in today. Always looking for new opportunities to grow plants for conservation projects, so if you need anything, I'll be in the shed.

How does the song of a Wood Warbler make you feel? The sound of hazy deep green light in ancient forests. The sound of peaceful dappled glades that provide respite from the hot sun. Listening to this song in southern England today made me feel something similar to grief.

More buttercup highlights, Swindale.

Looks like June, felt like March. Woolly hat weather in the beautiful Swindale valley this morning, on the first seed collection outing of the year. Buttercup heaven!

Please keep your dog on a lead when out in the countryside, particularly during the spring & summer to protect mammals and ground-nesting birds.

And for weed bucket beetle of the day, a two-banded longhorn beetle (I think) Also a contender for wildlife distraction of the day, but that award goes to a fledgling Robin. Yes, my finger nails are always that colour.

Potting shed moths, No.5, an occasional series. Think this handsome beast is a Ruby tiger moth, happy to be corrected. A brighter red in the south apparently, but duller in Scotland? Not a master of camouflage in this case but a nice find, whilst checking on the acorns.

This one is on a weekend for those of you who don't normally get chance to get involved. Should be a good day.
