Why batteries can't fix the issues with renewable energy explained simply 🪫💔

For solar farms to make money they need electricity to have value during the day. But as solar production increases, prices fall and can even go negative.

For batteries to make money from arbitrage

Here's an interesting graph that somebody sent me. There seems to be a cyclic component to the rate at which patents are generated. And the ups and downs appear to match ups and downs in the curve proxying elite overproduction (see the next tweet).

If you want to define a continuous addition you get the Riemann integral

This is what happens if you want to define a continuous *product*

One of the weirdest and most satisfying integrals you've ever seen and why it's important for physics

(a quite technical 🧵) 1/12

Remember on this day that Hanukkah is a celebration of peaceful protest against a dominating power in which the Jewish people marched with placards to highlight their predicament.

Our latest technical blog is about how to navigate TerminusDB with our new typescript CLI client. We have a system of configurations similar to Kubernetes which is convenient since TerminusDB is distributed and you may have multiple servers!

I've been thinking a lot about high dimensional vector representations lately, so was happy to see this article: quantamagazine.org/a-new-approach…

German girl demonstrating that SU(2) double covers SO(3), a.k.a, the Balinese Cup Trick, or Dirac’s Belt Trick. This is the basic reason a doubly quantised vortex in an SO(3) superfluid is topologically equivalent to the vortex-free state. See also nature.com/articles/s4146…

Denmark shows volatility from having 40%+ of your mix from wind leads to huge imports. Wind in Europe is correlated, so this also corresponds with demand for expensive electricity. LCOE numbers are garbage as power price is grid-wide and systemic. Wind is very expensive.

Thrilled to share a few new linked data product innovations that supports the TerminusDB engine ecosystem with a data modeller, visualisation engine and hosting.

Interoperability took a huge leap with default label property selection, as seen here in the Star Wars dataset. 🧵👇

With and TerminusDB you can get a 99.6% precision for record linkage on the DBLP / ACM publication benchmark with low effort and zero training. Vectorization quickly deals with a host of complex matching tasks easily and with far less work.

It's absolutely shameful that Paddy Cosgrave's opinion that human rights should be respected is being followed up with an attempt to destroy him financially. Corporate cancel culture is going to lead us into a morally bankrupt and suffocatingly narrow public discourse.

You have two options:

Tile the forested mountains with black silicon panels and get 50-100 megawatts for 25-30 years.

Put a BWRX-300 in an IKEA-sized building and get 290 megawatts for 60-80 years.

Which is better for the environment?
