By the way, the Diptera collection was not the first to be scanned. Here are the Orthoptera, also recurated, scanned and annotated by Susanne Leidenroth and edited by Joachim Holstein, both Naturkundemuseum Stuttgart since many years. Enjoy:

Travelled down to see Mum & Dad last week & enjoyed lots of country walks around Devon 🙌 Always amazed at different sp. compared to our northerly location in Sunderland. Dark Bush Cricket nymphs (Pholidoptera griseoaptera) abundant along hedgerows Colebrook Lane, Cullompton 🔍💚

Wow! 😍

Look at this amazingly detailed model of a Wart-biter Bush-cricket (Decticus verrucivorus), made for us by Arts University Bournemouth | AUB student Olivia Cunningham!
🦗
It'll be making an appearance at our upcoming The National Lottery Heritage Fund supported Changing Chalk project events.

Cool to see a sneak peak of the call feature in the upcoming Grasshopper guide - QR codes will link direct to species calls on Xeno-canto. Exciting to hear about developments in call recognition software as well 🦗🦗🦗

Roesel's Bush-cricket - but where has it come from & where is nearest population to Moors SSSI 🤔 It certainly looks to have had & thankfully survived a rough ride 😥 YNU Phillip Whelpdale Dr. Africa Gómez NEYEDC

Having carefully checked and having seen no sign of grasshoppers (even in the sunshine) for the 4 last days, thought it might be time to cut the back 'lawn' for the first time in 5+ months.

Cue this grasshopper turning up to change my plans. 🤦

A wander out onto the Sandlings at Hollesley Heath over the weekend was brightened by a fine display of flowering Bell Heather, Ling and Western Gorse.

Pretty certain I also found a male Sickle-bearing Bush-cricket which must have recently colonised Suffolk?
