Why can’t we just dock a few nuclear subs and connect them to the grid? Proven tech, cheap energy as close as the coast to where you need it….Merryn Talks Money Podcast: Climate Capitalism, Angela Rayner and Gold - Bloomberg bloomberg.com/news/newslette…

Don't miss the latest Merryn Talks Money, mainly because I need someone to answer my question about nuclear submarines (Merryn Somerset Webb made the mistake of letting me ramble into Father Dougal territory) bloomberg.com/news/newslette…

I do feel that the police should answer these sorts of questions. Otherwise it could lead to people wondering if they're just making this stuff up as they go along.

Just a hint in the latest UK GDP data that recent encouraging vehicle output data is translating to value add in the economy. Barring a very weak March print (unlikely given early Easter retail boost) this has the economy on course to be growing again in Q1.

Has any other board game been 'modded' as much as Monopoly without people realising that they're actually playing a pretty drastically different version from the one that's in the rulebook? Maybe Scrabble?

The real lesson from Angela Rayner's tax troubles? Uk taxes are too complicated. When she's in charge she should make them low simple and unavoidable - and start with abolishing stamp duty for low CGT on ALL UK property sales. bloomberg.com/opinion/articl…

Angela Rayner's tax tribulations demonstrate that our tax system is just far too complicated. As Merryn Somerset Webb points out, there's an easy way to make it simpler, one which would also encourage healthier capital allocation (though a lot of you won't like it) bloomberg.com/opinion/articl…

“You have to take seriously the possibility that the next rate move will be upwards rather than downwards.” Larry Summers bloomberg.com/news/articles/…

US inflation came in hotter than expected which makes 'higher for longer-er' in the US more likely. Like it or not, that has an impact on the BoE's decision-making process too. (That's even before you think about whether or not rate cuts are a good idea at this point).

This a depressing read on the experience of one company that has decided to delist from the UK stock market and highlights the urgency of reform
