Ms. Sharon Lesa Nyambe, the UNODC Head of Office in Kampala provided insights into the background of the training & highlighted the ongoing partnership between UNODC Eastern Africa and Uganda Prisons Service.
She highlighted the significance of sustained efforts in countering violent extremism in Uganda.
Uganda Prisons Service, in partnership with the UNODC Eastern Africa and the EU in Uganda, has successfully concluded a five (5) days Training of Trainers (ToT) course aimed at enhancing the management of Violent Extremist Prisoners (VEPs) and preventing radicalisation within the prison system.

Today, we wrap up a productive capacity building session for 35+ staff from the Prison Academy & Training School.
In the coming weeks, they will assume the responsibility of instructing fellow Uganda Prisons Service staff to address violent extremism & radicalization within prisons.
