The river herring run has begun! Each spring, about 600,000 herring migrate from the Gulf of Maine into Boston Harbor and up the Mystic River into MA lakes and ponds to spawn. MIT Sea Grant works with MysticRiverWatershed MA Division of Marine Fisheries MassDCR + other partners on herring research + outreach.
