On Indigenous Peoples’ Day, it was my pleasure to give the NASS Medallion Award to the Native American Community Development Institute (NACDI) in Minneapolis - for its “Make Voting a Tradition” voter outreach program. A well-deserved honor for groundbreaking work!

Some perspective on the Hamas terrorist attack: The Israeli death toll (so far) of 200 is the proportional equivalent of over 7,000 U.S. deaths - more than twice the losses on 9/11.

The Hamas sneak-attack on Israel is shocking and horrific. Thousands of rockets fired at civilian targets. Families reportedly taken hostage. Dozens killed. Israel has the right and responsibility to restore security aggressively. Meanwhile, we stand with the victims. 🇮🇱 🇺🇸

Today we mourn the passing of former Minnesota Secretary of State Arlen Erdahl; a public servant of tremendous reach whose positive influence was felt for decades. I was honored to join him for public and private celebrations over the past few years. Condolences to his family.

Siamak Namazi (my onetime college roommate) is free after nearly eight years in captivity in Iran- imprisoned on phony charges of espionage. I’m so glad he’s coming home. He deserves his life back. And the Iranian regime deserves its ongoing status as an international outcast.
