Whoever people supported it’s now time for the Conservative Party to unite behind the new Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and get the UK’s economy back on track. It is in the national interest he succeeds. He will have my full support

The last few weeks show that being PM is tough and no other job in government is quite like it.

I know Boris has learned lessons from his time in No10 and will ensure the focus is on the needs of the country from day 1.

I will be supporting him to return to the role of PM.

The privileges committee will and must be allowed to get on with its work and Boris Johnson will co-operate fully as I am sure will Rishi Sunak Both men in the same buildings working hard with the same people. Both I imagine will be fully scrutinised. If one knew, they all did.
