Yesterday Matt Oliver and I had an enjoyable half morning tweaking the front door pot display. Removed dahlias and added fresh ones plus Colocasias and Xanthosoms that have been slow to get going this year. Come and see at our National Garden Scheme Bank Holiday Monday, 1st Sept

It's just take me ten and half hours to drive back from Penzance to Chelmsford and now the weather forecast says we are due hail at 3am. Which will be nice 🤦‍♂️😂 Had a great holiday regardless, thank you to everyone that took the time to show us round your gardens 👍

Right then garden twitter, off to the south west next week. Totally unorganised as usual 🤦‍♂️ Recommendations of gardens/nurseries to visit in the Devon/Somerset/Dorset sort of area. TIA 👍

Right on cue this evening the mother hedgehog appeared and smashed through nearly half a tin of cat food in ten minutes. Don't leave any for the kids, eh?! 😂 Quite something to sit in the garden eating dinner at the same time as the local wildlife.

Hedgehog update: the big mummy seems to like chicken cat food 🍗🦔😋 Devoured the lot in less than five minutes 😲

Just off out for an evenings cricket but not before being introduced to the family of three baby hedgehogs living outside the back door 😍 Note to self: no strimming for the foreseeable future!

Really lovely opening today for the National Garden Scheme. Interesting questions and lovely comments. Steady stream and a record number for our July opening. Thanks to Matt Oliver @MrsKeebs Nature Lover for their hard work today.

Twitter has been a bit erratic of late, so I'll be giving the new Threads app a go. Choosing between Zuckerberg and Musk is a bit like choosing a favourite kind of dog shit but no such thing as a perfect world I guess 🤷‍♂️😂

For dry old Essex it's as close to what can be described as 'humping it down' as you'll get and despite a cancelled cricket match this makes me very happy. May the grass be green again 💦☔😁

Sports turf and grass care isn't just for blokes, same as the games played on it. Great stuff 👏

🌵Local cactus and succulent society show this morning. May have spent a bit of money and left with a box full of plants 😬

Growing for show can turn you into a bit of a control freak and I try to take a live and let approach to wildlife but sometimes they really do test your patience. Apparently moles are a sign of healthy soil 🤬🙄🤦‍♂️

Summer pruned the fig this week. Got to be careful of that latex sap but thankfully it's never seemed to have affected me.
