Working with the Sloane Herbarium today I briefly reunited two small horti sicci that were once bound together. That probably happened in 1740s, and Daniel Solander records that to have been so in the 1760s. And so they remained until rebound in 1880s NHM Botany Richard Coulton

Rather late, but, had a fascinating time at the NHM Botany Taxonomic Principles and Tools in Botanical Research course, specialising in Bryophytes, last month Natural History Museum.
A fantastic insight behind the scenes with a sunny field trip to Thursley Common, what's not to enjoy?

Here is a plant specimen in the herbarium of Robert Uvedale (1642-1722); its label is in the hand of Charles Du Bois (1658-1740), cashier-general of the East India Company. But what scrap paper did he use to write it on? NHM Botany Richard Coulton Fragmentarium Madeline White

Check out this story of a rare plant specimen collection reaching Virginia Tech Herbarium from NHM Botany (@dr_norb), dating back to the 1840s. Amazing history!
