It's a #CherryBlossom encore. The Kwanzans are blooming! Named after a mountain in Japan, the Kwanzan cherry trees bloom in bright pink clusters and are primarily found in East Potomac Park. Going around Ohio Drive on the Hains Point loop, you can't miss them. #WashingtonDC 🌸🌸🌸
Today, we were honored to welcome Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio to the National Mall. Symbolizing the friendship between our nations, Prime Minister Kishida presented two cherry trees to National Park Service Director Chuck Sams to join our other Japanese cherry trees.🌸🇺🇸🇯🇵
On April 9, 1939, 75,000+ people saw singer Marian Anderson perform at the Lincoln Memorial. Denied the chance to perform at Constitution Hall due to a 'white performers-only' policy, the integrated concert was a watershed moment in #WashingtonDC history: nps.gov/articles/000/m…

This year's #cherryblossom story isn't quite over. The Kwanzan variety of cherry trees are coming into bloom now. Dozens of these gorgeous trees planted together on the Potomac side of the Hains Point loop will offer a breathtaking bright pink display over the next week. 🌸🌸🌸
Besides a few determined cherry trees, most of the Yoshino blossoms around the Tidal Basin are gone. Your last chance to see cherry blossoms on the National Mall this year is coming soon with the blooming of the Kwanzans. Stayed tuned for those updates.
