Truth is that what happens on an elite university campus in the US matters much more to people on this platform than the situation in Tbilisi, the Donbas trenches or even Rafah. We might live in a post-Western world, but the West's culture wars set the info agenda.

🚨 Susan Hall is the most dangerous candidate I've ever faced.

Before you give her an X, read her X.

I don't think performative cruelty actually plays all that well outside of a baying minority on social media and in the comments pages of certain news outlets.

Pretending the average voter loves this stuff sounds all world weary and wise, but in reality most people are decent.

May 1990: the Tories focus on 2 councils: Wandsworth & Westminster.

They held them and declared victory.

By November, Thatcher was gone.

May 2024, the Tories focus on 2 elections: Teeside & West Mids.

If they’re won, they’ll declare victory.

By November, Rishi will be gone.

I’ll be voting for Sadiq. He’s a good man and a highly capable municipal leader for a great cosmopolitan capital city. And it’s important, when Labour has thankfully returned to the mainstream, that a dogmatic Conservative Party gets beaten till it too returns to sense.

Genuine Q for Whitehall wonks - this, on eve of election, looks like a most egregious abandonment of 'sensitivity period' convention (formerly 'purdah') by Home Office. Is that basically not a thing anymore, or is this de facto party election broadcast ok because not new policy?

How and why organising a single voluntary removal on a commercial flight of somebody who didn't come across the Channel will now help 'remove thousands more' is entirely unexplained and totally made-up by The Sun headline writers on this Harry Cole report

“If the medium-sized countries aren’t banding together the giants are going to sit on us.”

The 🙈🤯 part is how UK politics reached a level of nostalgia-nationalist delusion that that’s considered a profound insight, not a statement of the obvious.

New: Many of London's post-war housing estates are damp, cramped, and cold. But, it's possible to fix that and cut London's housing shortage.

Here's how an estate renewal revolution can build half a million homes and cut London’s emissions

Every few years, I search for this 2019 clip of Blair again. The bluntness of his ‚power is power!‘ doesn‘t only apply to geopolitics, but equally to energy policy & the delayed energy transition. Raw power. No longer a lack of technologies or knowledge.

Is there anything more cynical than the Evening Standard, pretending to be vaguely progressive every day, to not piss off its readership, but always SOMEHOW arriving at the position of endorsing the Tory candidate every 4 years - even a dangerous and racist climate-change-denier?

Been reassured by a Labour insider that this is bollocks. Would be, shall we say, extremely helpful for a shadow minister to say so on the record - some of us are at risk of losing our minds

HOPE not hate⁩ will hold Workers Party of Britain candidates to the same scrutiny we hold candidates of other parties. Those who are racist, antisemitic, homophobic or hold dangerous conspiratorial views will be highlighted and opposed

Here’s another one from an another friend’s son @ucla. Protestors take over access to area near school library demanding wrist bands and approval to each student passing.

“So you won’t let me in because I’m Jewish?”
“Ummm no… we have a couple Jewish students here … are you
