It's entirely possible NYC would be better off with cutting the HRA budget in half and doubling the size of the NYPD. While I'm not advocating that, I will say with confidence it would be a better choice than abolishing the NYPD and increasing the budget of HRA by 50%.

Maybe allowing activists to call the shots in state political parties was a bad idea?

Think of the harm to children that could have been prevented if anti-police ideologues had not been the majority of the elected school board in the first place. I wonder what % of parents wanted to remove police from schools when the board voted to do so. (I suspect very small.)

I used to be a daily Metrolink rider. I had an issue like 3 or 4 times. This is the disconnect that transit enthusiasts fail to grasp: 1) that's a low rate of issues per trip; 2) that's enough to make you not want to ride transit.
