As #SIDS4 reaches a close with the adoption of ABAS we congratulate 🇦🇬for their exceptional hosting, the Bureau and its Co-Chairs for the steering and 🇺🇳 Secretariat for its support. Now we must focus on the implementation to ensure the resilient prosperity of SIDS.

At #ADS2024 – Africa Dialogue Series, Portugal noted that technology can enable inclusive and equitable education for all Africans through digital infrastructure development, by investing in robust digital infrastructure, including internet connectivity and digital devices. #SDG4

At Interactive Dialogue 3 of #SIDS4 , 🇵🇹 supported accelerated funding for climate financing:
➡️Underlining commitments to Green Climate Fund and Loss & Damage Fund
➡️Noting + 68M EUR in climate finance until 2030
➡️Recalling debt for swap agreements w/ Cabo Verde and São Tomé e Principe

On this International Day of UN Peacekeepers, we pay tribute to our uniformed & civilian personnel for their commitment to communities they serve for peace.

This year’s theme looks at invaluable contributions military, police & civilian peacekeepers have made for over 75 years.

🇵🇹 was honoured to co-chair #SIDS4 interactive dialogue on financing and aid effectiveness, with Cook Islands🇨🇰. Today's discussion, including a diverse set of panelists and fire-side speakers, must continue to inform reflections on road to #FFD4 . The need for reform is now.

➡️Continued collaboration on oceans, climate action, DRR and development financing (e.g. MVI, triangular coop. & debt for climate swaps)

Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Nuno Sampaio, held a fruitful meeting with UN Trade and Development SG Rebeca Grynspan, at #SIDS4 . 🇵🇹 is proud to have been the first to contribute to UNCTAD's SIDS strategy and looks forward to working on its implementation in line w/ABAS.

StS for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of 🇵🇹 attended HLM on Mobilisation of Resources at #SIDS4 . There is a need to focus on innovative actions to tackle urgently pressing challenges of financing access and debt sustainability, including through the implementation of ABAS.
