The number of times I've had people say 'eww but Ursula is Ariel's aunt' about my Little Mermaid retelling... OMG it's a RETELLING which means the Sea Witch can be male and NOT RELATED to the mermaid princess whose name is not Ariel because my book is not the Disney movie.

If the characters in a retelling are adults, they are allowed to do adult things. That doesn't make a book 'gross' or 'creepy.'
We are allowed to retell children's fairytales (the Nutcracker, Wizard of Oz, Peter Pan, Alice in Wonderland) in adult spicy form if we want to.

After napping off and on for the whole morning, I'm starting to feel like myself again and want to DO something. Apollycon recovery is at least partially complete!

They haven’t acknowledged ANYTHING that happened. Just deleted their accounts and posted it on their website - they didn’t even send out an email to those who bought tickets for 2025

After the horror stories of RTD, I was so impressed by how organized Apollycon was. Volunteers kept checking on me, offering to help or get me anything I needed, & all the readers were so sweet. There were some small issues but minimal for such a huge event. Tired, but pleased!
