On #WorkersMemorialDay , we remember those who lost their lives on the job and highlight the importance of the Occupational Safety and Health Act, which promises every worker the right to a safe job. As a member of the Labor Caucus, I'll always fight for worker rights.
During #WorldImmunizationWeek , we celebrate that vaccines have saved at least 154 million lives over the past 50 years. Learn about the vaccines you and your loved ones need to keep us all safe here: cdc.gov/vaccines/index…
I applaud President Biden for taking this action during #SecondChanceMonth . There is so much we must do to right the wrongs from our past & address the decades of overcriminalization our nation has endured, but today we celebrate that these folks will get the second chance they deserve.
Had a great time at the Tuerk Conference today. I came to Congress to end our opioid and mental health epidemics after losing my nephew to a fentanyl overdose. The sad reality is that my story is not unique, 112,000 died from overdoses last year alone. We must do more.
During #NationalParkWeek , we focus on preserving America's beautiful natural resources. I was pleased to see that Bureau of Land Management - National released its final Public Lands Rule to safeguard our public lands for the next generation. We can never stop fighting for more environmental protection.
Proud to join Rep. Tony Cárdenas in introducing a resolution to declare April as #SecondChanceMonth to focus on helping returning citizens rebuild their lives. My Fresh Start Act and Rep. Lisa Blunt Rochester's Clean Slate Act aim to do just that by streamlining the sealing of eligible arrest records.
Congratulations to Brittany Collins, WCPS Maryland's Teacher of the Year! Your dedication to teaching young folks English and connecting them to the vital resources they need highlights the critical role teachers play in our communities. A well-deserved honor!
Maryland’s four HBCUs generate $1 billion in total economic impact and are key to workforce diversity. Proud to join the HBCU Caucus and Rep. Alma S. Adams, Ph.D. in amplifying the importance of these esteemed institutions during the 7th Annual #HBCUSTEAM Days of Action on Capitol Hill.
Pain management lies at the heart of our substance use epidemic. We've got to figure out a way to effectively manage pain while preventing the overprescribing of opioids. During our roundtable yesterday, the Bipartisan Mental Health & SUD Task Force sat down with experts to learn how to address this crisis.
