Dr Alyssa Marshell from University of Tasmania has been working to find the status of Tassie’s favourite & most recreationally caught fish – sand flathead. Population trends show stock is depleted, so she’s working closely with state gov to try ensure future sustainable flathead fisheries.

Prof Tim Brodribb FAA of University of Tasmania was recently elected to the Australian Academy of Science.

He studies the tug-of-war between forces as plants draw water up from the soil. His team use cameras mounted on leaves to observe the process in real-time.
