Today, I welcomed counterparts from the Five Finance Ministries to Treasury Department. We reaffirmed our commitment to deepen partnership on shared economic security priorities, including efforts to address common economic risks and vulnerabilities from overconcentrated supply chains.

Minister Giorgetti and I had a productive conversation about our shared G7 priorities during Italy’s presidency. We also discussed our efforts to constrain Russia’s access to goods it needs to build weapons and to hold Russia accountable for the damage it has caused in Ukraine.

Minister Christian Lindner and I met today to discuss our joint work on implementing sanctions against Russia for its illegal war in Ukraine, and the continued importance of coordinating efforts to counter sanctions evasions, support Ukraine, and ensure Russia pays for its damage.

I welcomed Deputy Prime Minister Choi and Minister Suzuki to Treasury Department for a discussion about our shared objectives in the Indo-Pacific and globally, including expanding resilient supply chains. The U.S. deeply values our close partnership with Japan and the Republic of Korea.

Today, I met President Asakawa of Asian Development Bank. The U.S. supports ADB’s leadership in the Asia-Pacific as it helps borrowers address the climate crisis and mobilize more private capital. I look forward to forging a deepened relationship with ADB as it works to achieve greater impact.
