Today, I challenged the Home Secretary, Suella Braverman, about her offensive and disturbing comments about deporting people to Rwanda, and challenged her to adopt a proper humanitarian approach to those fleeing war and persecution.

Welcome comments. The most obvious and viable forward to allow for governance of Northern Ireland is to give a cross-community coalition of the willing an opportunity. But we can't wait much longer...

Some good news for the future of the planet, and encouraging that the hard right can be defeated - but it remains a huge challenge.

It is increasingly clear that the Home Secretary is a security liability. Her position is untenable.

But that should already be the case with her authoritarian and anti-humanitarian approach, including her 'dream' of deporting vulnerable people to Rwanda

Interviewed by BBC yesterday about life as a gay man in 1990s Northern Ireland

Some painful memories and difficult experiences recalled but many fun times and positive stories told

An election makes no sense at this time. It is right that Chris Heaton-Harris MP at least pauses on calling an election. He should reflect further on what it achieves. Way forward should involve structured engagement with parties, accelerated progress in UK-EU talks & reform of institutions

“What we have now is minority rule, with it being either the DUP’s way or the highway.”

Listen below as Eóin Tennyson argues the futility of another election, but also the necessity of institutional reform, lest we end up in this cycle of ransom politics all over again:

Lurching from crisis to crisis does absolutely nothing to help people.

We need to reform an Execuritve now and reform the institutions to prevent any one party from holding the rest of us to ransom ever again.

My letter in the Spectator this week 📰

Alliance has been arguing for reform of our democratic institutions for over 20 years. These reforms are required now more than ever before.

It's time to end this constant cycle of ransom politics and deliver stable Government for all, says Eóin Tennyson.

Pleased and relieved that the Identity and Language Bill is through the Commons.

This was a key commitment in NDNA. Should have been legislated for in NI Assembly.

Next stage is implementation.

This is a very dangerous narrative from the UK Government. Foreign Secretary needs to reflect and withdraw. If Qatar wants to host major international events then it must respect inclusivity.

One year on from this cross-party picture in support of Irish language rights a Westminster & today the Irish language legislation will finish it's journey through the House of Commons. 🅾️

In a busy news day, danger that threats from the Retained EU Law to the devolution in NI, Wales and Scotland slip under radar.

100s of pieces of law in NI in devolved space to be repealed over our heads.

While some boycott the Assembly, its integrity is being undermined.

For as long as certain parties are able to veto the functioning of the Executive, we will continue to be plagued by stagnation and political instability. The people of Northern Ireland deserve better.

Listen below as Nuala McAllister MLA explains how we can achieve change:

Less than one week from resigning for breaching Ministerial Code. So much for the new commitments to integrity and accountability.

The Retained EU Law Bill will be presented for its second reading today.

The Bill takes a sledgehammer to vital protections derived from the EU, with laws simply ceasing to exist if not replaced causing chaos on an unprecedented scale. theguardian.com/world/2022/oct…
