The Taliban blocked young women from taking college entrance exams for a variety of subjects. Female students told CBS News that they were not allowed to take exams for university majors including engineering, economics, veterinary medicine, agriculture, geology, and journalism.

It’s #WPS week at the UN Security Council in New York. Afghan women are still protesting. Is the world listening?

Today, 27 countries in the Group of Friends of Afghan Women made clear that the Taliban must allow girls to return to school.

But this is the bare minimum. Women and girls in Afghanistan must have full and equal rights.

How is Afghanistan ‘secure’ when women can’t work & are forced to wear mandatory burqa. When girls can’t go to school. When former security forces are brutally killed. When people are targeted and killed because of their religion & ethnicity. When Daesh & al-Qaeda operate freely.

Despite the Taliban’s wholesale attack on women’s rights in #Afghanistan , there is almost no monitoring or accountability for these crimes.
