Two great books festooned with post-its from while I was reading them: “Attack From Within” by Barb McQuade and “The Washington Book” by Carlos Lozada. And I’m the lucky guy who gets to interview both authors today at 11:15 at Montclair State University for the Montclair Litfest:

A SCOTUS majority could make this quick and easy: “There may be some core presidential duties where some degree of immunity would be appropriate. But we leave that difficult question for another day. Whatever the scope of official duties that might be entitled to immunity, 1/

The actions alleged in this indictment clearly fall well outside that scope. Therefore presidential immunity, to the extent it exists, is not an issue in this case. This trial can proceed.”

Hey, a guy can dream. 2/end

Trump fell asleep in court AGAIN today. But it's still a quick social media post or a slight mention in a news story. I know there's A LOT of news but it sure seems like there is an active effort to NOT do any serious reporting on this issue.

Good piece from Stephen Robinson⤵️

It’s possible Stormy Daniels was there for other things.

Trump and Melania’s triplex is on floors 56, 57 and 58 of Trump Tower. Trump’s office is on the 26th floor.

Trump was bringing in a porn star and alleged lover about 30 floors beneath his wife’s home.

One data point that Graff entered into the Trump Organization's contact info: Stormy Daniels' contact info, which is redacted in the exhibit.

Asked whether she understood Daniels was an adult film actress, Graff replies: 'Yes, I did.'

Hoffinger also asks Graff to review exhibits that include the contacts of Stormy Daniels and Karen McDougal, which were entered into the Trump Org's outlook computer system.

Graff no longer works for the Trump Org, but she was there for 34 years.

She's appearing at her former boss's trial today under subpoena. She's joined by legal counsel, who are being paid for by the Trump Organization, she says.

She could join him in the courtroom. Or he could have avoided other women. There were and are other options.

Again, the courthouse is open the public. The park outside, where a handful of his supporters have gathered on trials days, is easily accessible.

Due to Trump attorney's concessions in Supreme Court oral argument, there's now a very clear path for DOJ's case to go forward.

It'd be a travesty for Justices to delay matters further.

Justice Amy Coney Barrett got Trump attorney to concede core allegations are private acts.⬇️

With the caveat that Justice Barrett is sometimes less predictable based on argument than her colleagues, this strikes me as most likely to be correct—especially that this likely comes down to Roberts, who was quite coy during today’s arguments.

Justice Alito suggests that, if former presidents are subject to prosecution after leaving office, they'll be more likely to seek to unlawfully remain in office after they were defeated for re-election/their term has ended.

Q: After Mr. Trump announced his candidacy for the presidency, did he ever express concern for how [...] Melania Trump would think of his affairs?
