In today’s Daily Monitor, I shared my opinion on the recently concluded Eastern Africa Power Pool meeting held in Kampala.

Member States have their power systems interconnected and prioritize developing interconnection lines. We therefore need to work together and make deliberate steps to achieve our long-term objective of power trade in order to make good use of our renewable energy resources.

As the Chairperson, I was honored to chair and host the Eastern Africa Power Pool (EAPP) Eastern Africa Power Pool
Council of Ministers (COM) meeting.

In this, we approved the draft bilateral trade framework agreement and the amended Inter-Government MoU & the Inter-utility MoU.

Hon. Ruth Nankabirwa Ssentamu - Minister, Ministry of Energy & Mineral Development & Chairperson of the Council of Ministers is chairing the 17th Extraordinary East African Power Pool (EAPP) meeting at Serena Hotel. The EAPP coordinates cross-border power trade & grid connections among Eastern Africa member nations.

In today's dailies, UETCL received power system stabilising equipment from JICA Uganda.

The Minister of State for Energy, Hon Okaasai Opolot has today launched the Power & Elec Uganda 2023 Expo at UMA Show Grounds where UETCL is participating in the 3 day exhibition

Hon. Ruth Nankabirwa Ssentamu - Minister Ministry of Energy & Mineral Development officiated the handover of power system equipment from JICA Uganda to UETCL at the 132/33kV Lugogo substation. We are grateful for such strategic partners like JICA which will help us fulfill and deliver on our mandate.

Progress at Mirama substation, a component of the Mbarara-Mirama-Shango(Rwanda) transmission line which aims to improve access to electricity in the Nile Basin Initiative countries through increased cross border sharing of energy and power. Project status
is at 75%.

Today I received wonderful news confirming UETCL ISO ( (International Organization for Standardization) certification. Grateful to the team for the tireless effort.

We are looking forward to seeing you joining our UETCL team.

UETCL CEO Joshua Karamagi CFA during his field visit at Mirama Substation a component of NELSAP project to see its progress. The works are being done by our internal engineers and to be completed within the next Five Months.

With UETCL engineers on my field visit to Mirama substation. Our engineers will complete the reminder works at the substation in the next 5 months. We are very proud of our internal engineering capacity. The substation will be complete way ahead of Kabale-Mirama T/line.
