Today's theme is Egypt.

We've selected Bertie W. Longworth's bronze Sphinx sculpture, showcased at the 1903 Paris Salon.
Alongside her husband, David Garrick Longworth, they founded an Egyptian newspaper and a bohemian Cairo bar, both named 'The Sphinx'.

Today we honour the legacy of one of Scotland's greatest landscape painters, William McTaggart (1835-1910). Our current exhibition of the artist's work held in our collection is not to be missed.

🌹This year's theme, 🌿is inspired by J.G. Ballard's dystopian novel. The story details a wealthy Count who tends to his dwindling garden of flowers as an angry mob descends on his home. We think Richard Walker's 'The Sad Gardener' fits the brief! 💐

Today we remember those who lost their lives during the Greenock Blitz. On the 6th and 7th May 1941, the German Air Force launched a series of bombing raids over the area. This image shows the devastated St Lawrences Church on Carnock Street, Greenock.

Today's theme for Art UK's is Industry.

We've chosen 'Victoria Harbour, Greenock' by the late James Watt (1931-2022)

Born in Port Glasgow, he studied at The Glasgow School of Art and dedicated his life to recording the River Clyde and its industries.
