Walk around the headland and to the north breach screen at WWT Steart Marshes. Reed, sedge and Cetti warblers, common whitethroat. Spoonbill, greenshank, spotted redshank; yellow wags bathing in fresh water pool. Oliver Smart 's Woodchat shrike nice to finish on. Thanks Sam, warden.

Dark sword-grass found on re-checking egg trays before storing today. Pleasantly surprised after 7 moths of 3 (Orthosia) species to MV light last night. Other sightings further S and W last night so this may have arrived on the sou'wester from continental Europe. Somerset Moth Group

Ashy mining bees were out in force on the wildflower lawn today with a peacock butterfly on the dandelions . Yellow rattle coming through in numbers now and our best show of snakeshead fritillary for years. #garden #somerset
