Sorry to learn of the passing of Alderman Derek Smallwood who was York's Lord Mayor in 1998. He was dedicated to the City and raised money for children with special needs during his year in office. A former bus driver he leaves many friends across the political divides. RIP

Speaking at Scrutiny today to the School Inclusion report on 3 themes: rhetoric driving full attendance is ableist, we are not ‘post pandemic’ as this autumn will show. Disabled children starting term without a school place is the start of a lifelong journey of exclusion.

£18 billion spent on building the brand new Elizabeth Line, and because the ticket office was closed today I couldn’t get on a train.

Absolutely mind-boggling that this new line requires a manual boarding ramp and there are seemingly times where there are no staff?

A stretch of pavement I hate, full of potholes that are hideous in a wheelchair & so many of them it’s impossible to weave through them. In contrast, this is the smooth tarmac of the road next to it. Remind me again who is supposed to be at the top of the transport hierarchy ?
