It's important to point out the obvious in case you missed it. The Biden Administration isn't simply saying to Israel don't do a big campaign in Rafah; it's all but making clear that it's time to deescala, end the war and cut a deal with Hamas.

Based on my experience lo these many years, more often than not, US red lines on Israel have a way of turning pink. Rafah may well prove to be a case in point.

A Scoop to be sure. It's not clear why Israel would want to leak this now. In March Israeli officials complained US was slow-walking ammo shipments. Then John Kirby said he wasn't going to comment on timeline for every arms shipment. Let's see what Administration says now.
