A leading emergency care doctor has told Good Morning Britain that the state of the NHS is a national scandal with the service now in a 'permanent crisis' as nearly 19,000 patients were forced to wait in A&E for more than 3 days.

Always a privilege to be on @gmb with Susanna Reid Adil Ray OBE Situation is really dire in acute care. A real national emergency. Would prefer not having to go on @gmb and for situation to improve. Need investment and hope. @shaunlintern Adrian Boyle Dr Rachel Clarke @rcollem

Have elected councillors and Royal College of Physicians allocated funds for specialist societies to do this work? Asking people to do for FREE work that others have already been PAID to do is not a reasonable request.

All agree with diagnosis. Diagnosis is futile without appropriate management. Management requires urgent investment to increase workforce and capacity. Without that diagnosis is terminal. Shaun Lintern Dr Rachel Clarke SAM Online Royal College of Emergency Medicine Adrian Boyle

There is more than sufficient data and evidence outlying dire state of NHS currently. There are many fantastic reports suggesting pragmatic and sustainable solutions. Investment and innovation support needed not more description of the problem.

No surprises. It is grim for Consultant Physicians (and all doctors) in NHS at moment. Not sure the answer any of us surveyed would have given as to what we hoped for was another "external review of NHS performance"! SAM Online Louella Vaughan

I have an awful feeling the aim is to portray the absolutely appalling NHS situation as worse than it is (almost impossible as that is). A wrecked and broken NHS. With no improvement claims will be made Labour has worked for NHS on basis of this. The new normal. Not promising

Mid-summer urgent and emergency care is in total chaos. A severe virus season with flu/RSV this winter would be catastrophic and cause significant excess deaths. A further novel pandemic in this state is simply unimaginable.

Creon is needed in a range of conditions where people have a problem with the pancreas gland. In particular many patients with cystic fibrosis need this treatment. This is a much bigger issue and does not only impact those with pancreatic cancer. Cystic Fibrosis Foundation

"We are concerned that the NHS may be working at the limits of a system which might break before it is again able to provide patients with care that meets standards for timeliness and accessibility" says National Audit Office Read: nao.org.uk/reports/nhs-fi…

"Growing mismatch between demand for NHS services and funding NHS will receive." As keep saying until capacity ability meets demand there is not a hope for NHS recovery. Scope for reform of course. However at the heart of this remains need for appropriate funding.

Sounds that crumbling hospital estates not on the priority list. Buckets will be strewn across many hospitals catching water from numerous leaks. Corridors full of stricken patients and buckets catching leaking water. "Bucket watch" may be a thematic in our hospitals.

🚨 Adult social care charging reforms delayed by the Tories will not be taken forward, saving more than £1 billion by the end of next year, Chancellor Rachel Reeves has announced.

Time for celebration. Two of our studies have reached a milestone. The VasoShock trial (see vasoshock.com) has reached 10% of the sample and the Safe Fast Track study (kliniskforskning.dk) has reached more than 50%. Christian H. Nickel Tim Cooksley Lasse P. Bentsen
