Amid a career-long shitstorm of terrible decisions, Barr did one thing right (the bare minimum), but he's still a power hungry Christian Nationalist through and through. Not to be near or trusted with power by any thinking or democratically-minded person.

My take on why Roberts and Kav have been more extremist lately is pretty simple. Those two were legit afraid of retribution if they killed Roe, and Alito was like “Dems ain’t gonna do shit.” And Alito was right. So now those two realize NOBODY is going to stop them.
