Are you going to the Edinburgh Fringe? Specifically on the 17th August? I'm bringing UNDOCTORED for one day only to the beautiful Edinburgh Playhouse. It was the bestselling show of last Fringe and I think it's a lovely show. (But I would.) 5:30 & 8:30pm shows. atgtickets.com/shows/adam-kay…

The violent riots are making headlines across the world & tarring UK as a dangerous place for ethnic minorities. The people rioting are tiny minority fed right-wing lies online (& by owner of this site). Most people in Britain are tolerant- it’s a great place to visit and live.

Billionaires have always been eccentric. They’ve often tried to buy media outlets to promote their own views. But Musk’s ongoing slide towards deeply extreme views and monopoly on Twitter, which has become a huge part of the public square in many democracies, poses a real problem

Happy Friday☀️- celebrating the next draft of my book with a green smoothie- which felt appropriate. Spinach, banana, almond milk, cashews, cocoa nibs & honey.

Bad news, red wine drinkers: #Alcohol is only ever bad for your health. We needn’t be puritanical about having a drink, but we can no longer deny that it harms us, even in small quantities, by @DeviSridhar theguardian.com/commentisfree/… via The Guardian

I'm doing some mpox media today to try to focus attention on the crisis in the DRC & neighbouring countries. 2/3 of cases have been in children under 15 and 321 children have died already. We have an effective vaccine but it's too expensive ($100/dose). savethechildren.net/news/mpox-five…

ICYMI my column on alcohol- drink if you want to drink, but don't pretend it's good for your body. theguardian.com/commentisfree/…

The #1 focus on mpox should be on getting vaccines, antivirals & support to DRC (where 96% of cases have been) & neighbouring countries. If a fire is raging next door, help them put it out. Not just because it’s the right thing to do, but could be your house on fire next.

Action wasn't taken. “But of course you often don’t get credit for an outbreak that is avoided. That’s always the paradox in infectious diseases.” bloomberg.com/news/features/…

Althea Gibson- know who she is? She was a pretty incredible athlete who doesn't have the recognition she deserves. Here's a short BBC Radio 4 programme we made about her life Billie Jean King bbc.co.uk/programmes/m00…

Happy Friday- I haven't been on this platform much lately bc it was becoming too negative & toxic. But, it is what we feed it, right? So here's my two cents: have a beautiful weekend- hope something or someone makes you smile, and you can enjoy the start of Autumn ☀️
