I really struggle to understand why holding water companies to account for the colossal damage they have done is such a challenge? Many protected landscapes owned by English water firms in disrepair, data shows theguardian.com/environment/ar…

This is why we are marching on Sat 26th Oct. Our rivers, seas and beaches need action now, not tomorrow, not next year and certainly not in 5 years time. NOW! #FloodTheStreets Turn your outrage into action. March for Clean Water. marchforcleanwater.org Get Britain's waters

"What we've got today is a long list of measures that will cost the government nothing and is really not going to fix anything because it's the system that's broken." River Action's charles watson calling out the failures the govt's new water bill on BBC Radio 4 this morning. 📻👇

Today’s new Water Bill is a step forward but fails to fix the system. We need far stronger enforcement measures, more resources for regulators, measures to tackle pollution from farming & finally to bring water back into public hands -join the March to demand more! charles watson

And if you want to make this loud and clear to the government, stand with us and others at the March for Clean Water on Oct 26 🌊 x.com/MarchforWater/…

Some of the measures brought in by the Water Bill are welcome, but these one-off actions do not go anywhere near far enough. The govt NEEDS to fix the underlying causes of our poisoned waterways. The lack of urgency is putting people & wildlife at risk.🧵 bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

Today, Environment Secretary Steve Reed MP pledged a “full review” of the water sector. This is great news. Now, we need to see an action plan. We need to see details, budgets and a sense of urgency. We need to see the government walk the walk to #RescueBritainsWaters.

Meet a short section of the River Kennet in Hungerford This is what a chalk stream can look like: clean, clear and cold Sadly, much of this river is smothered by algae from nutrient pollution 🙌 to riverkeeper Rob Nightstar for his heroic work over 40 years Feargal Sharkey
