Yeah, this is where we are at. I'm too tired to play games. I just want to see the data.

I'm just assuming there will be a more formal report. And I'll post it here. All the rest is a waste of my bandwidth atm.

H5N1 is turning out to be a fantastic example of how *not* to communicate during an outbreak.

This (and many other failings) is knowledge translation 101. Common guys, get it together.

Kudos to CDC for putting out these technical summaries at a steady frequent pace covering what we know and what work is being done. These situation reports are critical for fostering a unified public understanding of risk level & triggers for greater concern.

The thread I did/did not want with my second cup of coffee this fine morning.

Tom is always great at slowing down, assessing the larger picture of the Natural History of this virus. Which can be difficult in such a complex, data poor, emerging situation.

To conclude - I think there is some evidence there are at least four mammalian transmission clusters of H5N1, 3 being limited mink farm outbreaks, 1 being a sustained sealion outbreak (with mixed avian-mammalian ecology)...

Bottom Line

Infectious diseases are not good for children. If you want to help your child’s immune system, get them vaccines and a puppy, not a virus.

Kids don’t need to get sick to be healthy

This is HUGE news! MV140, a sublingual vaccine developed to prevent UTIs, showed REMARKABLE success and prevented recurring UTIs for nearly a DECADE. The vaccine not only reduced risk but also enabled a significant number of participants to be completely UTI-free!🧵⬇️

Been geeking out about this much needed, “plain language” guide for months. It’s about time we bring the public along for the ride! If only we had this before all the armchairs epidemiologists four years ago 😜

Congratulations, my friend!! Rebecca Katz

Some thoughts: in my experiences in pandemic prep & bioprep, the most valuable & challenging lessons over the pandemic have been communication & collaboration. Learning as we go while communicating uncertainty, nuance, & that guidance, like science, will evolve & improve. (1/n)

Wish we had more information on:
- number and distribution of H5N1 test results, incl negative
-epi links (if any) between affected herds
-outcomes in infected animals
-active surveillance in humans, swine
-more genomic data
-whether stockpiled vaccine matches vs CVV

Given the scale & seriousness of the outbreak in dairy cows in the , we really need to have all the scientific details asap that we would want to know in such an extraordinary event. Viral loads, which specimens, how many cows, serology, which food...
