The UMN Entomology Dept delegation representing Entomological Society of America had a great day meeting with congressional staff from the offices of Senator Amy Klobuchar Tina Smith and Rep. Betty McCollum to talk about invasive species, climate change, forest health, agriculture, and urban entomology.

Finishing up grading for the semester and one of my students just turned in a self-produced insect metal song entitled “the plague”. Runners up for semester faves: a forensics detective report, a podcast called “bug baddies”, and a playlist entitled “music if I was a bee”.

Don't forgot, editing is part of writing. Reading is part of writing. Lying facedown on the floor, worrying those around you, is part of writing.

When a noted entomologist retires, what do you do? Give them a 21-insect net salute. UC Davis distinguished professor emerita Lynn Kimsey received one, as did her major professor, Richard "Doc" Bohart, founder of #Bohart Museum of Entomology. #BugSquad tinyurl.com/5973f8pk
