Today I join Italian friends of Alaa Abd El Fattah in their hunger strike for free #FreeAlaa .
Best way to prepare #COP27 is to ask immediate release of all political prisoners in #Egypt : there is no climate justice without democracy and freedom.

Zyad’s mom is headed to the prison now, he should be out today. This would be the 1st high profile release ( a proper compromise) since the start of Sisi’s sham national dialogue. Pressure is working let’s keep it up! 🙏

Egypt's top political prisoner and U.K. citizen Alaa Abd El-Fattah has been on hunger strike for over 200 days.

'We're not sure how much time is left, we're not sure how much his body can take,' says his sister @Sana2, who is demanding the U.K. pressure Egypt to free him.

Whilst Alaa's sister Sanaa continues her vigil outside the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office, he remains unjustly imprisoned in #Egypt and over 200 days into a hunger strike.

Meanwhile we have no effective government here in the UK to take action to #FreeAlaa !

No casualties were reported, the cause of the fire was never announced, and there is no room to investigate the environmental impact on the local community.

I hope this explains why we keep saying that #Egypt hosting this climate conference is a BIG mistake.

What we do know is that in 2019 the government announced that both Eni & BP are going to expand their projects off Idku’s shores.

In 2021 a large fire broke out in the gas pipeline during its pilot operation.

A couple of months later, Sisi's vicious military coup happened and that was it. Everybody was forced to shut up all over the country.

We don't know what happened to the fishermen of Idku because in order to go there & ask questions or do research you risk arrest & maybe death.
