Yes, this is a response to recent discourse, but it's also a response to a larger problem because this discourse happens over and over, circling endlessly, never actually climbing out with meaningful and useful takeaways.

The care economy is exploitative because it serves disabled people, so workers can get treated like shit because society doesn't care about their clients. When the gig economy started overlapping, capitalists realized it was a great chance to make even more money, which they did.

Instead of targeting other people for bad forced choices—and nondisabled people make exploitative choices too—my question remains, always, 'what are we solving for' and 'is there a better way to do it' and if there is, why aren't we doing it.
