This is what universities should be doing, individually, in their mission groups and as an entire sector. Every single day, fire back within minutes and attack the root of the campaign against them. 👇

Where's all the money coming from to replace the £100ms of lost revenue to those unis you say with some made-up specious BS are 'low quality'? What are you gonna do when there's only 20 unis left and they have no sector ecosystem to draw on? Thicker. Than. Mince.

Almost everything this government touches turns to dust, and that's why they must leave power and go away to have a long think about everything they've brought low or smashed. Simple stuff really.

Yeah, do we really think they'd do this, or would they wreck the say 50 or 60 unis they turned back into polys - just like they're wrecked adult education and Further Education? Hmm, let me think. Disingenuous claptrap. 🙄😡

Another big and little-discussed reality in Higher Ed: students at some Oxbridge Colleges can access far more financial assistance than others, on an almost entirely random basis. thetimes.co.uk/article/c9798d…

What could possibly go wrong with a plan launched by Nick Timothy, a man who helped run the worst election campaign in modern British History and nearly lost to Jeremy Corbyn? How on Earth is he even anywhere near public life anyway?

Do they know the untold damage this would do to one of the country's only world-class sectors? Or the way this would shred any hope of Levelling Up. I suppose they do. At this point they're just vandals and wreckers.

British voters don't like the level of immigration. They hate it when it looks like people are 'jumping the queue'. But they don't like cruelty either. Awful scenes of people being dragged away in the midst of protests will hurt the government. Voters don't have to be consistent.

I don't care whether this is popular or not. It's wrong - and especially despicable just because it's an election week. I can feel myself being radicalised on this in real time. theguardian.com/uk-news/2024/a…

The government's majority is now only 41 (very likely 40 after Blackpool South). In the end we wouldn't need a General Election, the Tories would just be ejected by the House of Commons. theguardian.com/politics/2024/…

Britain's Potemkin border control
- 22 miles from Dover
- no monitoring to ensure trucks actually drive there
- no monitoring if they do but their load is rejected as unsafe or illegal and they're told to return to France

In the end, if Higher Ed income is fixed but costs rise, the vast majority of English universities will have to close their doors. Not tomorrow, not next year, but within the next Parliament and the one after that. That's incontestable. Just brute facts.

The destruction of English Higher Education continues apace. All the skills and buildings and infrastructure that you the taxpayer paid for, poured down the drain. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…
