Treepopper useful even on small willow! Bluebells looking great, with just an occasional white flowered ones. Another busy volunteer day.

Delighted to see that almost all the planting in Pennycroft is still there. After nearly 2 weeks under metres of water, whether it has survived is another matter. These wetland plants are pretty tough.

The Thursday volunteers were busy dealing with some of the damage done by the recent floods. Repairing damage, filling holes and fencing off dangerous areas of washout in Pennycroft.

Many thanks to the great team for Saturday's Muck-in. A lot of tree-shelter removal (nobody's favourite job) and coppicing done. The reserve is flooded again today.

A group of 6 of the rare Thistle (or Yorkshire) Broomrape Orobanche reticulata growing on Pennycroft, marked to prevent accidental damage. The flowering stems seem quite short this year, so there may be more we've not spotted yet. Natural England Field Unit 🕷🦗🐸🐌🦇🦉🦊🐍🌿🌳🍄
