As usual, Breakthrough has compelling thoughts about ag and public investment in novel food tech. My only qualm here is lack of deeper exploration of who gets to decide on what tech gets funded and who gets money. Can’t be the USDA in current form. thebreakthrough.org/issues/food-ag…
As Matthew Hayek and I show in the case of the IRA, the USDA has no problem investing in climate mitigation. The problem is that what they see as climate smart ag often isn’t all that smart and ends up supporting incumbent agricultural players. newrepublic.com/article/167267…
