At one of my favourite venues. ⁦Donmar Warehouse⁩ for Cherry Orchard. Offline for a while.

The Whiskered One comes over to see what I’m reading. Mabel indulging her curiosity. What could I possibly be doing that’s more interesting than playing with her?

Mabel. Playing hide-and-seek this morning. And no, this wasn’t her attempt to hide. She knew I was standing in wait round the corner and was trying to sneak up the stairs to catch me.

Mabel was curious about what I was doing, so she clambered on to my lap. This was her reaction when she realised I was watching men in coloured pajamas hitting and chasing white balls.

And it’s good morning from Mabel. I was sitting on the stairs waiting for her to show, and she’d snuck up behind me.

Mabel. Reaching out and gently stroking my finger to see what happens. Watching very carefully to see what the finger will do, unworried about the human it is attached to.

Normal service is resumed. Mabel looks at me, bewildered, mystified. How could I *possibly* be watching a match where the players aren’t in white and the ball isn’t red? I will have to make it up to her. Maybe a day at Lords?

Mabel in training. Learning how to sit next to me and watch the IPL qualifier. Supporting KKR comes naturally when you’re born in Kolkata. But for Mabel it’s probably an acquired taste. Let’s see. She stayed still for barely a minute before going hoppity skippity high and low.
