In an unprecedented move, the CEO of New England's largest utility is asking the White House to ease restrictions on LNG shipments, to help ease the risk of blackouts if a cold snap hits this winter, via Jon Chesto... bostonglobe.com/2022/10/29/bus…

Jon Chesto The Boston Globe IMHO--I love the conversations about Permitting and Hiring/Training support for Early Education providers in downtown Boston. More early ed locations would equal more daily foot traffic. A key factor will be support for early educator wage growth to afford cost of living.

Great idea. The Trustees of Reservations got close to doing something with Dry Dock 4 (where City Hall was supposed to go, remember?) but couldn't quite reach an agreement with the city. New England Aquarium has also had some interesting ideas for its waterfront stretch.

Great analysis here by Aaron Pressman on the future of Twitter. Could this site become more of a 'Wild West' than it already is? bostonglobe.com/2022/10/28/bus… via The Boston Globe

Jon Chesto The Boston Globe In addition to improving nightlife, it also eliminates the mad rush for taxis / rideshares at one specific time. I also enjoyed how in NYC there isn’t the RUSH to get to the bars since they don’t close so early

Jon Chesto The Boston Globe Sadly, not within city’s authority but designate Seaport, Garden / Faneuil, Boylston, & Fenway areas that can stay open past 2am. Chicago does something similar with specific areas being able to stay open later & it seems to work.

There's been some debate in the business community about the smartest things for the city to do to help downtown Boston. What do you think should be done? bostonglobe.com/2022/10/27/bus… via The Boston Globe

So much potential, though a tad short on details... Jon Chesto and Catherine Carlock have the latest on the city's plans to create ‘a 24-hour neighborhood’ downtown.

I covered an exorcism in Litchfield, Conn., when I was in college. The priest used holy water in a Lemon Joy bottle, which kind of demystified the whole thing.

Ari Ofsevit Jon Chesto The Boston Globe Perhaps Newton needs something like Portland's residential infill project to create incentives for multiple units over larger single-family homes? portland.gov/bps/planning/r…

Interesting piece & commentary. As a Newton native, would love to see the city address the lack of multifamily housing. No reason that 2, 3, even 4 units shouldn’t be allowed in most of these lots. Dramatically reducing prices!
