Don't let em trick you. 'The university has passed a resolution to establish a working group to form a committee who will conduct a study to assess our investments in Israel to present their recommendations to the Board to vote on' is not an end to genocide.

In Mexico we have this saying in social movements that I think we can see today with students’ encampments: “They took so much from us that they took away our fear.” 🔥✨❤️‍🔥

the actual encampment at Columbia—i'm here after teaching my final class of the semester—is downright tranquil, impossibly sweet. there is a 'nut zone' for the safety of kids with allergies.

This week, you’ve been shown again that you actually don’t have the right to protest war and genocide. In cities run by Democrats, at liberal institutions, under the lesser evil president.

The thing I don’t think those off-campuses understand is that these demonstrations would have petered out anyway in a couple of weeks. The semester is nearly over. Doing anything at all is escalation, let alone calling in the fucking national guard. It’s nonsense.

If you’re faculty at a university where there are protests, remember there are lots of ways to support, publicly & privately, tenured or not. Here’s a few:
-Know your faculty rights & rules
-Amplify protest info on your social media, privately to colleagues or in class

Thank god this would NOT happen during a Joe Biden presidency in a state ran by a Democrat governor in a town with a Democrat mayor with 2 senators who are democrats.

With all the attention on Columbia students right now, you'd think they were murdering 300+ people and leaving them in a mass grave near a hospital they bombed.

They didn't. But Israel did.

Columbia should divest.

Things that get rushed, bipartisan congressional support: billions for war, bans on TikTok

Things that don’t: healthcare, education, housing

It’s because corporate politicians work for their owner-donors, not the people.

THAT is the biggest threat to our democracy.

I know this is being normalized extremely quickly, but let’s take a step back, put political analysis aside, and think about how insane this is. Students across the country are being arrested by actual police for sitting on the lawns of their universities with tents and signs.

I voted no tonight on the foreign aid package for one simple reason: U.S. taxpayers should not be providing billions more to the extremist Netanyahu government to continue its devastating war against the Palestinian people.

The Harvard University solidarity encampment has gone up!!!!!

Demanding:
1) disclose all investments in occupation
2) fully divest
3) amnesty for all student protestors and an end to weaponization of disciplinary policy

Harvard has already shut down the campus in response.
