It breaks my heart when patients ask me if I think they are an “interesting case.” It is crucial that we see our patients as human beings with medical conditions and do not reduce them to “the goiter in room 6.”

Today an attending asked my name and then told me “it sounds like ‘chewy’.” I haven’t had to hear that since middle school. Don’t be that attending.
