Congrats newly minted Dr. Wang Yu Wang Special thanks to Jeff Friedman for coming and suggesting Yu should receive 4 Phds for her remarkable thesis co-advised by me and Ardem Patapoutian; and committee Enrique Saez Xin Jin, PhD Anton Maximov and Holly Cline.

💯 Yu Wang will ace her thesis defense on Tuesday, so we threw her a party tonight with proud mom as special guest! Note her dual lab swag: Li Ye and Ardem Patapoutian. We’ll miss her but can’t wait to see the great things she’ll accomplish in Karl Deisseroth’s lab!

Incredible time #SfN23 . Met old friends, mentors and made new ones. Same week I learned I got tenure and promoted to full Professor Scripps Research Grateful to my lab, colleagues at Dorris Neuroscience Center/Scripps, and so many people I learned from throughout my career. 🙏
