When is a dead Eucalyptus leaf not a dead Eucalyptus leaf? When it’s a Broken Leaf Moth! #Circopetes obtusata!
Submitting my first paper for the win! Not an image from my paper! But microscopy of a sample I collected a while back! #Pilostyles hamiltoniorum flower bud forming inside the stem of its host!! Such a cool plant that I get to work with!
A Daisy that doesn’t look like a Daisy at first glance!! #Hyalosperma demssisum! This tiny #Asteraceae forms mini cushion plants of densely packed inflorescences, this individual is a rather large individual for their size!
Celebrating a milestone for myself in completing my first manuscript ready for submission! hoping it gets through! And will get to share my findings soon with the world, but in the mean time here’s a nice photo of my papers subject to celebrate! #Pilostyles hamiltoniorum
Look at all these snapping traps of this #Aldrovanda ! I wonder how many tiny things this one has eaten!
While #Pilostyles may be in flower now when the flowers form they form fully inside their hosts stem lookin like a bad case of botanical pimples as they push apart their host cells! Pretty horrific! Least these cannot infect us 😳
Been seeing areas like this all around, most recently I went to the population of Pilostyles I filmed Gardening Australia and it’s the driest I have ever seen it many shrubs not yet browning but looking visually stressed!! Very concerning indeed! Joe Fontaine great piece!
