A movement of ducks recorded over Penrhyn Bay last few nights. Big flock of Common Scoter, a close group of Gadwall (video 2) and some Teal. However the four flocks of Whimbrel (video 1) was the highlight. The ‘seven whistler’ definitely on the move north ☺️👍

Bore da 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿A dawn walk around Cardiff Wetlands before a full day of meetings. This small little city centre reserve was full of singing Cetti’s, Reed and Sedge Warbler. 20+ Great crested Grebe and an out of context couple of Common Scoters. Ready for the day now. Angharad

Post work walk at Bryn Pydew Obelisk. A sea of Cowslips and Orchids. Many Early Purple Orchid flowering and a few Green veined Orchid remaining. Amongst the 1000s of Yellow Cowslips, one example of a fine Red flowered Cowslip present. Spring Squill, Wood Anemone + Dog Violet too.

An enjoyable morning in deepest Montgomeryshire. Stumbled upon a Goshawk nest! Amazing views. 30+ Crossbill (video 1), 12 Tree Pipits (video 2), 100+ Siskin (video 3), 30+ Redpoll, 16+ Redstart (video 4), 2 Yellowhammer, Yellow Wagtail, Grasshopper Warbler and 2 Mandarin Duck.

I visited a new reserve for me today Montgomeryshire WT Llandinam Gravels. An enjoyable couple of hours exploring - 2 Little Ringed Plovers, at least 6 Common Sandpiper and 3 White Wagtail the highlights. Nearby at Llyn Clywedog; Osprey, Wood Warbler and Goshawk in stunning scenery👍

An enjoyable walk around Woodland Trust🌳 Coed Gaer near Guilsfield, Montgomeryshire this morning. Singing Tree Pipit, Redstarts everywhere + 3 dapper male Pied Flycatchers. Overnight recording in landlocked mid wales produced a fine Curlew, Ringed Plover and Common Sand 👍

Stunning evening at Cors Ddyga. 4 Yellow Wagtails (3 male and a female) amongst 75+ White Wagtails. Greenshank, 3 Snipe, Dunlin, 137 Golden Plover (video) + 3 Marsh Harriers. Anglesey Bird News. Early morning RSPB Conwy - 2 Arctic, 1 Common and 18 Sandwich Tern + Lesser Whitethroat ☺️

Always good to see a Yellow Wagtail in North Wales. 2 male ‘flavissima’ birds this evening at Cors Ddyga. Also 50+ White Wagtail, 107 summer plumaged Golden Plover Peregrine + a Black tailed Godwit. On way home a beast of a Goshawk flew over A55 near Britannia Bridge Anglesey Bird News

A good night of Nocturnal migration recorded over Penrhyn Bay on the night of April 12/13 : 2 Ring Ouzel (video 1) , 3 Redwing, Tree Pipit (video 2), 2 Common Sandpiper (video 3), several Redshank and a Snipe! (Video 4). Happy to be corrected though ☺️👍

Last night was surprisingly for recordings over Penrhyn Bay! At least 1 (possibly 2) Little Ringed Plover - 2 calls 10 mins apart (video 1), 27 Redwing, Golden Plover (video 2) and a flock of Redshank (video 3), 2 Common Sand (video 4 with presumed Gadwall), Black-h Gull.

A post work wander around RSPB RSPB Cors Ddyga this evening - 1st w Little Gull dip feeding over the pools (nightmare to video 😂), 76 Ravens SW, 200+ Hirundines, 3 White Wagtail and 167 Golden Plovers.

Tried the recorder in land locked Welshpool, Powys last night. Recordings here of 1) Ringed Plover 2) Fieldfare + 3) Coot (several throughout the night). Number 4 is a possibly Little Grebe? Also 2 flocks of Curlew, an Oystercatcher and Moorhen over.

Superb morning’s birding in Montgomeryshire looking for Lapwing and Dipper nests. Male Yellow Wagtail, 4 Goshawk (including a displaying pair), 7 Mandarin Ducks, Redstarts, Willow Warblers, Swallows, 3 pair of Dipper, 6 pair of Lapwing and this superb Peregrine causing chaos!

At least 5 freshly arrived Common Redstarts singing away in Powys Castle Grounds, Welshpool this morning. Also plenty of Willow Warblers, Blackcap, Swallow and Chiffchaff. Cool watching prospecting Goosander checking out various trees too ☺️👍 National Trust
