Nurses! Come work with me at our lovely little refugee health clinic!

I will bring you a cuppa every shift we work together.

Gossip with you in the tea room.
Cry with you about the sad things.
Celebrate with you the little (and big) wins.

Tomorrow is my birthday. I’d really love it if you do something nice for someone, buy a stranger a coffee, donate to a charity, carry someone’s groceries, give a compliment to your partner or kid about something you haven’t commented on before.

❤️🙏

I've had the pleasure of working closely with Prof Tony Birch on our Narrative Medicine Programme for medical students. He is a deeply caring teacher, committed to nurturing a better future for young people.

The bullying by State Library Vic of anti-war writers is concerning.

Hope lies in a culture of resistance.
May we all have the courage to stand up against oppression.
Against violence.
Against genocide.
For peace.

Proud of Dr Amireh Fakhouri, who is a wonderful trainee GP working with me, and our team at Utopia, who fought against unpaid overtime.

'...my message is simple – our hospitals are only as good as the doctors, nurses, and staff who work in them.'

Dr Mariam Tokhi The fact that this reporting only speaks to recommendationsre 'tap' side ie ED and not the 'drain' side ie the wards and primary/community care makes me worry that the community expectations that 'it's an ED problem' are reinforced when should be looking from community side 1st

Systems issues in healthcare, like lack of support for primary care (to support people in community) and bed blocks in hospitals, lead to terrible outcomes for patients.

When health workers (nurses, paramedics, doctors) tell you that their workplaces aren't safe: believe them.

‘This is the final battle for Darfur… It will enable them to complete the 2004/2005 genocide,’ says Nathaniel. ‘This is their plan, this is their goal.’

In Britain, the GMC has suspended Dr Sarah Benn, a GP who engaged in peaceful protest about triggers which put the health and wellbeing of the most vulnerable humans, especially future generations, at significant risk.

Dr Mariam Tokhi Ahmed Yussuf We have birth country and language spoken at home, but what we're actually missing is ethnicity. We should be collecting all of the above. It can shine a real light to inequalities masked in aggregated data x.com/maskupmelb/sta…

Bizarre hearing politicians and journalists who backed Israel to the hilt reciting ‘lest we forget’ as bodies with tied hands are excavated from mass graves near a hospital.

I stand by this:
I am glad that we stop to remember those who have served, suffered, and given so much – even their lives. But pausing to remember fallen heroes of the past is shallow and insincere if it excludes those who suffer the tragedy of war today.

Dr Mariam Tokhi Ahmed Yussuf I can understand how you feel but I do think it is important to collect ethnicity data. You can’t change what you don’t measure. This data could help measure & address disadvantage & hence is worth collecting.
