We’ve expressed no view on why Lehrmann’s lawyers decided to act for him on spec, because we don’t know. No doubt they had reasons, which they don’t have to justify to anyone.

Interesting how many people are expressing disbelief that lawyers would ever do anything without being paid. It’s actually very common.

Turns out Lehrmann's lawyers were on a no win-no fee deal. Generally, lawyers might agree to act on that basis if the case has good prospects of success and/or there's something about the client that they think merits taking on the risk.

There are few things more utterly pathetic than fully grown adults expressing their terror of LGBTQI+ people by trying to erase the evidence of their existence.

Every word of this is wrong.

Faruqi v Hanson hearing has concluded, we now await judgment. Whatever happens, we’ll be making some law.

A defendant in court proceedings is not obliged to defend the claims against them. If they don't, the plaintiff still has to satisfy the court their claim is good, but that's a low bar when there's no contradictor. Reynolds is likely to obtain a verdict, for what that's worth.

Agree. Hard fact: our community includes very large numbers of men who abuse women in many forms, including rape and murder. This schizophrenic dance between 'it's not all men' and 'we're all responsible' makes it easy to throw up our collective hands and do nothing.
