The seeds of Ginkgo biloba ( #Ginkgoaceae ) have sarcotesta, which is a fleshy seed coat. Fatty acids in the sarcotesta oxidize during ripening & produce a foul odor. There is no evidence that these malodorous fructoids attracted dinosaur dispersers. But maybe they did! 🦕
