Paul Cheshire's essay on Labour's housing proposals (and the challenges they'll face) in this new report by the SMF is excellent and well worth a read - CPO powers, planning reform, new towns and more.
It also has some interesting further ideas for housing policies....

Delighted to contribute to this SMF essay collection on Labour's emerging economic agenda, curated by Aveek Bhattacharya and Neil Lee.

I share findings on infrastructure from recent work with Anna Stansbury and Ed Balls: it's a barrier to thriving economies well beyond London and the SE

This was one of the most interesting projects I’ve ever worked on

In 1997, there was a clear vision of how growth might be achieved - driven by theory

Now, the challenge is greater and while there is a lot of sensible policy, it is largely micro, not grand theory

We have Zoë Billingham Neil Lee Luke Raikes and Joyce Liddle speaking at this event with Insights North East.

It’s hybrid and couldn’t be more timely. 2 weeks after local and mayoral elections, and 🤔 weeks before GE.

Not to be missed!
